Kenny’s Kaps

Kenny’s Kaps was inspired by a Sergeant in the Marine Corps who had sustained traumatic brain injuries.  Kenny asked for a purple skull-cap to help keep him warm, and his simple request has launched a new Patriotic Pillow Project initiative.  Each skull-cap is embellished with the insignia of the Original Military Merit Badge the precursor to the Purple Heart Medal, the decoration Kenny received for his wounds.  The group is also helping homeless veterans in the north brave the cold winter by distributing hand-made mufflers, gloves and scarves and encouraging members to organize gatherings to send Valentine “Love Notes” to the troops in February.

This design is, however, copyright protected. It is free to the user to crochet as many caps as they wish…our only request in your enjoyment of it is that you remember our men and women in service who have sacrificed so much for us, and consider crocheting some for them. 1. Dear Christina,
Thank you for a most wonderful gift we received today for our son Dave. The hat is great and I know he will like it and wear it proudly when we take him outside the hospital. After a TBI, everyone is so glad to see some cognition return and we are very fortunate and take one day at a time.

Thanks Again Christina, for all you do for wounded warriors. You are a Blessing and may God continue to Bless you and your Project. Sincerely, Peggy
